The Easiest “Set It & Forget It” Crockpot Dog Food Recipe

  • Author: admin
  • Total Time: 4 hours 10 mins
  • Yield: 8 cups 1x

Description

A healthy, ‘set it and forget it’ crockpot meal for your dog. Made with tender chicken, sweet potatoes, and carrots, this recipe is both delicious and incredibly easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs

1 large Sweet Potato, washed and cubed

2 large Carrots, washed and chopped

1 cup Green Beans, fresh or frozen

1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped (optional)

45 cups Water

Instructions

1. Place the chicken thighs at the bottom of your slow cooker.

2. Layer the cubed sweet potato, chopped carrots, and green beans on top of the chicken.

3. Add the chopped parsley if using.

4. Pour enough water into the crockpot to just cover the ingredients.

5. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours. The chicken should be fully cooked and the vegetables tender.

6. Once cooked, turn off the crockpot. Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the pot. The chicken will be so tender it will fall apart easily.

7. Stir everything together, mixing the shredded chicken with the soft vegetables and the nutrient-rich broth.

8. Let the food cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Nutritional Balance: This recipe is a fantastic rotational meal. For long-term exclusive feeding, please consult your veterinarian about adding a canine multi-vitamin or calcium supplement to ensure complete nutritional balance.

Storage: Allow the food to cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
